Hola a todos,

Soy muy novato en todo este asunto, pero me gustaría aprender.
Estoy intentando levantar un server y ya tengo casi todo listo, solo me falta configurar la base de datos (en realidad crearla).

...y supongo que todo mi problema está relacionado en cómo crear la BD.

***Recuerdo que en el año 2006 levanté un template PHP con MySQL, y recuerdo que el mismo sitio (template) tenía la capacidad de crear la BD, formatearla y generarle todas sus tablas automáticamente, no recuerdo haber tenido que "crear" una BD, en fin, puedo estar equivocado y quizás estoy confundiendo las cosas***

Entonces, ahora en el año 2012, se supone que debo poner algunos datos importantes a la hora de instalar mi página.

En sí, encontré algunas diferencias entre páginas PHP (o templates, no sé si me equivoco) y páginas phpBB3 (que descargué aquí). Lo que si son iguales en lo que ambas me piden lo mismo a la hora de instalarse en mi IIS 6...

Database name:
Database username:
Database password:
Prefix for tables in database:

Pero en ningún tutorial de este foro sale cómo crear paso a paso una BD en MySQL.

Tengo varias dudas sobre esto:

¿Con qué herramienta creo la BD? Supongo que debería ser con una aplicación que se me instaló cuando instalé MySQL 5.5 la cual se llama MySQL Workbench 5.2 CE. ¿Estoy en lo correcto?

Abrí MySQL Workbench y cinseramente, no tengo IDEA! de cómo crear la famosa DB.

Y si lograse crear la BD, ¿dónde queda guardada? (me refiero al archivo físico en sí)

¿En alguna ruta dentro del dusco duro? (supongo!) pero no sé donde!

¿Debo indicarle a mi página PHP dónde esta guardada mi BD? O solo debo indicarle el nombre de mi BD y mi página irá sola a buscar mi BD? ¿Así de simple?

¿Qué prefijo debo poner en mi BD? ¿El que yo quiera? "The prefix must start with a letter and must only contain letters, numbers and underscores."

...se que dice que el prefijo debe empezar con letras y debe tener solo letras, números y subrayado. Pero la pregunta se enfoca a ¿puedo colocar el prefijo que se me dé la gana? O debe ser de acuerdo a lo que exige la página en que estoy levantando?

Quizás mis dudas son muy básicas, pero en realidad necesito una mano con todo esto.

PD: Ha! aprovecho de pedir la última alcaración... veo que hay algunas páginas hechas en PHP (que descargué) y aquí hay páginas en phpBB3. Son lo mismo? tienen diferencias? O simplemente se refieren a los foros que son phpBB3 y las páginas normales son PHP? Bueno, gracias nuevamente.

En workbench:

create database nombre_tu_bbdd;


Luego tienes que crear las tablas:

CREATE TABLE nombre _de_la_tabla (
nombre_del_campo1 tipo_de_dato1,
nombre_del_campo2 tipo_de_dato2,
nombre_del_campo3 tipo_de_dato3,
...
nombre_del_campo_n tipo_de_dato_n,
[PRIMARY KEY (clave primaria),]
[FOREIGN KEY (clave externa) REFERENCES tabla (campo clave), ]
[CHECK (condición de la restricción)]);


y entonces no acabas sino de empezar.... 8-)

No me digas que tengo que crear una a una todas las tablas???

Y qué hay con la ruta de la BD? ¿mi página detectará automáticamente la ruta y encontrará mi BD???

(además, donde rayos está guardada mi BD cuando la creo???)

Como comenté en el post anterior: El año 2006 levanté un sitio en PHP Nuke y había una función de la misma página que creaba las tablas automáticamente dentro de mi BD. Uno solo le decía dónde estaba la BD, o guardaba la base de datos en un directorio en particular, y la página hacía el resto de crear las tablas, etc.

Ya que si comprendes, son alrededor de 1500 TABLAS!!! o posiblemente más! ¿no crees que es poco productivo hacerlo así?

Recuerdo que en tan solo unos minutos tenía mi página lista para ser ocupada con PHP Nuke. No existe lo mismo en phpBB???

Esas instrucciones son para crear la bbdd y las tablas a mano...
Pensé que estabas trabajando en otra bbdd personalizada, no en la de gestión del foro.

si lo que quieres es crear la bbdd para el foro, primero tienes que crearla en phpmyadmin que está en en los servicios de tu host.

Con los datos de esa bbdd y el user y contraseña, haces la instalación del paquete de phpbb3 y entonces se crean todas las tablas necesarias para gestionar el foro.

En la zona de guías y manuales existen tutoriales de cómo hacer la instalación.

si tienes dudas, prueba a instalar phpbb3 en un servidor local y haces las pruebas primero en él.
Así le vas cogiendo el tranquillo.

Bueno, consultando por aquí y por allá, logré detectar que el template que bajé viene con un error en uno de sus archivos encargados de crear todas las tablas necesarias dentro de mi BD...

...específicamente el archivo:

y supongo que tendré que crear las tablas faltantes a mano.

...supongo que además vienen algunas relaciones entre otras tablas, y los campos que están dentro de las tablas quisás también tienen otras relaciones con otros campos.
